A Celebration of Life Through Images

I have a Question…

How long does a session last?

While the session is not timed, all sessions are scheduled at the end of the day when the light is soft and flattering. This “sweet light”period lasts about an hour.

What if the weather does not cooperate?

We actually hope for clouds on the day of our sessions. Clouds soften the light and make for beautiful images. If it is raining; however, we will reschedule the session to another time during your vacation. If rescheduling is not an option, your session fee and order retainer will be refunded to you or credited to another session date.

How do I reserve a session?

When you are ready to book your appointment, please give us a call at the studio to confirm the session date.  The session fee ($250) and order retainer ($250) – a total of $500 will be due to hold your date and payment may be made by Paypal, all major credit cards or a personal check.    We will then go over all the details with you for your perfect session.

When do we see our previews?

Your preview images will be ready for you to view in our studio while you are still here on vacation. Your images will be projected for you on a large screen to make it easy and fun to select your favorites. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come for this viewing!  For our Digital Package clients, your images will be ready within 10 days following the session.

Do I have to decide at the preview session?

No, but many clients do make decisions at this time.  Clients find it easier to select their images from the large screen projection and Mary Pat is there to help them make the best choice.  She can also give advice on portrait sizes, finishes and design ideas for your home.  If you need more time, we offer a personal online gallery and you will have up to 3 weeks to make your selections.  You gallery may be extended if requested before the gallery expiration date.

Do we get the digital files?

M.P. Myers now offers a Digital Package option.  The Digital Package includes  full resolution files with print release.   Go to the Contact section to request complete pricing.

Is the session fee refundable if I need to cancel?

Mary Pat only photographs one session  per evening, so we ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel so we can fill the spot. Your session fee and order retainer will be refunded if you cancel with a minimum of 10 days notice.

Do we all have to wear khaki and white?

No, but the lighter tones do look best. Lighter clothing will blend well with the soft colors of the beach and assure that your faces are the focus of the portrait (and not brightly colored clothes!) You don’t all have to match exactly, but plan on wearing the same 1 or 2 colors. Whites, tans, denim and pale blues and pinks all look great on the beach.  Click here for some great suggestions!

May we have the separate families photographed?

Absolutely! Your session will include photographing the entire group as well as the individual families, children alone and any combinations that you wish. You don’t have to even let us  know – we will suggest these grouping for you!

My baby goes to bed before sunset, can we do the session earlier?

This is a common question and concern for parents; however the lighting on the beach is too harsh to do the session earlier unless we have overcast skies. Children, especially, will have a difficult time keeping their eyes open in the bright sun. We do find it helpful if the younger children are given a late nap and something to eat before the session. Mary Pat  will contact you on the morning of the session to confirm the lighting and timing.  Visit here for more information on timing for your session.

Where do you photograph on the beach?

In our opinion, the best  beach locations are in Cape May and Cape May Point. Mary Pat’s secret spots are secluded and have gorgeous high dunes and the perfect lighting. Mary Pat is also available to photograph in Avalon and Stone Harbor and the surrounding areas.
